Strings and Keys Music Studio is a privately owned home studio located in Lakewood, WA, founded by a celebrated and experienced teacher, Mr. Koon Yu Wong. Koon had started teaching when he was 16 years old, and since his relocation to PNW, he has taught over 150 students since 2018, and that number continues to grow.

Koon Yu Wong was born in Hong Kong, China. He is an experienced and celebrated teacher currently providing piano and violin lessons at a private school located in Tacoma, WA. Koon had taught over 150 students from pre-school to 75+. He studied music with a dual focus on piano and violin since the age of 8 and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Music with a primary focus on piano performance from Arizona State University. He holds a violin performance diploma from Trinity College London. Koon is a winner of numerous awards in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival competition in both piano and violin. A member of several symphonies, Arizona State University Symphony, Arizona State University Lyrical Opera, Arizona State University Philharmonia, and University of Washington Symphony Orchestra. Koon was a panel judge for the 2018 Arizona State Music Teacher's Association - Arizona Study Program certification exams. He is classically trained and capable of teaching a wide range of musical styles and genres.

 I have a deep passion for playing the piano and violin, and I love to share this passion with others. I find great joy in introducing people to the beauty of music and helping them to develop their own musical skills. I believe that everyone has the potential to play an instrument and make beautiful music, and it is my mission to help them unleash that potential.

In order to share my passion, I give lessons on the piano and violin. I start by teaching the basics of music theory and technique, such as proper posture, hand positioning, and how to read sheet music. I provide my students with plenty of opportunities to practice and perform so they can develop their skills, gain confidence in their abilities, and enjoy performing for themselves and others.
